Outward Bound California (“OBCA,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. We provide this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) to help you (“you,” “your,” or “User”) understand how OBCA collects, uses, protects, and discloses information and data when you use the OBCA website at https://www.outwardbound.org/obca/ (“OBCA Services”). This Privacy Policy also explains how you can manage the use of certain information we collect. By accessing, browsing, or otherwise using the OBCA Services, you agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect About You and How We Collect It
We collect different types of information from and about Users of the OBCA Services, including information by which you may be personally identified (“Personal Information”). For example, we collect Personal Information from Users who create an account with the OBCA Services, such as the User’s name, address, email address, phone number, credit card information, and birth date. If you create an account using your credentials from a third-party social media site, we will have access to certain information from that site, such as your name, email address, and profile picture, in accordance with the authorization procedures determined by that third-party social media site. We additionally collect other information that Users voluntarily provide, such as through contact forms submitted through the OBCA Services.
If you would like to access or correct inaccuracies in your account information, you may do so by contacting us via email or phone.
If you choose to apply for a job through the OBCA Services, we will collect Personal Information such as your name, phone number, email address, mailing address, and any Personal Information included in your resume, cover letter, and field log (if applicable).
We also collect information that you voluntarily provide in a testimonial. We may post your testimonial with your prior consent. If you wish to update or delete your testimonial, please contact us at [email protected] and include your name, testimonial location, and contact information.
We also collect information that is not Personal Information, such as aggregate data regarding which webpages are visited and for how long, as well as information regarding any technical errors that occur on the OBCA Services.
Cookies and Anonymous Identifiers

We may also use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to support site functionality, understand user engagement, and improve our services. Users may disable cookies through their individual browser options; however, some features of the OBCA Services may not function properly as a result.
How We Use the Information We Collect
We use the information we collect, including Personal Information, to improve the content of the OBCA Services, facilitate OBCA programs, process transactions entered into through the OBCA Services (such as donations or correspondence), and contact you regarding the OBCA Services. We may also share Personal Information with third-party consultants for purposes such as wealth screening or fundraising consultation. We do not share Users’ credit card information.
We retain Personal Information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Additionally, OBCA may disclose the information we collect, including Personal Information, when required to do so by law, in response to a subpoena, discovery request, or court order, or when OBCA believes in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights or property of OBCA or third parties.
The OBCA Services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and OBCA does not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13 through the website. If we learn that we have collected Personal Information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information.
If OBCA is merged, acquired, or sold, or if some or all of our assets are transferred, Personal Information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction. Except as ordered by a court, the use and disclosure of transferred Personal Information will remain subject to this Privacy Policy or a new privacy policy if you are notified of the new policy and given an opportunity to opt out. Personal Information collected after a transfer may be subject to the successor organization’s privacy policy.

While OBCA is a nonprofit organization and is not subject to certain California privacy laws applicable to for-profit entities, we respect your privacy and will respond to reasonable requests in accordance with applicable law. The security of your Personal Information is important to us. We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect Personal Information from loss, misuse, or unauthorized access. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You transmit information through the OBCA Services at your own risk, and OBCA is not responsible for circumvention of any security measures contained on the OBCA Services.
Collection and Use of Information by Third Parties
OBCA may share information you submit through the OBCA Services, including Personal Information, with third-party service providers and partners in order to operate our programs, process transactions, and support our operations. These third parties are governed by their own privacy policies and practices.
The OBCA Services may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by OBCA. This Privacy Policy does not apply to information collected by third parties through their websites, services, or other interactions. OBCA is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites.
Before visiting a third-party website or providing any Personal Information, we encourage Users to review the applicable privacy policies and practices to understand how their information may be collected, used, and shared.
Online Payments and Donations
You may be able to register for a program or make a donation through the OBCA Services. If you register for a program, you will be directed to the Outward Bound national website (outwardbound.org), which will collect and use Personal Information to process your registration and send a confirmation.
If you make a donation, we use the Personal Information collected, such as credit card and contact information, for billing purposes and to provide donation receipts. You may choose to include your name with your donation or donate anonymously.

Do Not Track
Some web browsers offer “Do Not Track” or similar signals that indicate a preference regarding online tracking. At this time, the OBCA Services do not respond to Do Not Track signals and will continue to collect information as described in this Privacy Policy even if such a signal is enabled.
International Users
The OBCA Services are intended for use by United States residents. If you access the OBCA Services from outside the United States, including from the European Union or other regions with data protection laws, please note that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By providing your information, you consent to this transfer and processing in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Any disputes relating to this Privacy Policy will be governed by the laws of the State of California and the dispute resolution provisions in the Terms of Service.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the website after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
