Now Enrolling: Southwest Canyon Backpacking and Whitewater Rafting Expeditions

In partnership with 22 Jumps and Tandem BASE Moab, Colorado Outward Bound School (COBS) is facilitating two expeditions for Veterans in 2026. The cost of tuition is completely covered for participating Veterans, thanks to donor contributions!

April 20th – 25th | Utah Canyon Backpacking Expedition

June 22nd – 27th | Whitewater Rafting Expedition

Partnership Programs For Veterans

Our Veterans courses provide a supportive crew, meaningful challenge, and the opportunity to embrace the healing power of nature. Veterans build connections with others who understand their experiences, often laying the foundation for lifelong friendships. Together, they learn how to translate their skills in resilience, teamwork, and service to their civilian lives.

We work in partnership with Veteran-serving organizations to offer programs for Veterans across Utah and Colorado. Scholarships are available for Program Partners.

5-7 Day Expedition

Embark on a journey deep into wilderness in Colorado or Utah. Totally unplugged and alongside fellow Vets, you’ll learn to harness your skills in comradery, resilience, and leadership to thrive in civilian life. Enjoy ample time for group and solo reflection and connection with the natural world.

Locations: Colorado Rockies, Colorado River (Cataract Canyon), Green River (Gates of Lodore), Moab Canyons

3-Day Leadville Workshop

Step away from life’s distractions to connect with fellow Veterans, rebuild confidence, and take time for reflection as a crew. Spend your days outside on the trails, rock walls or high ropes courses. Spend meals together in our dining hall overlooking Mount Massive and share stories around the campfire.

1-Day Insight Program

Our single-day programs quickly bring groups together. Our facilitators take your team through a series of outdoor initiatives followed by directed conversations that help Veterans identify their unique strengths and how they can be applied to civilian life. Veterans will return home with stronger connections, more confidence, and enhanced skills in reflection.
