Join us at our 2026 Gala honoring NYC Council Speaker Julie Menin and Latimer CEO John Pasmore.
Join us for cocktails, followed by dinner and an engaging, student-led program at the dynamic Tribeca Rooftop. We will be honoring Julie Menin, NYC Council Speaker and John Pasmore, Founder & CEO of Latimer, for their contributions to creating a more equitable world for our city’s young people. Funds raised at this annual event help ensure that we can continue our work to engage students in equitable, immersive and joyful learning experiences.
As always, the event will also include the presentation of the R. Gaynor McCown Excellence in Teaching Award to an educator within our Compass Rose Schools network.

Meet our 2026 Honoree
Julie Menin was elected Speaker of the New York City Council on January 7, 2026. Speaker Menin has served our city for more than two decades, including as Commissioner of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, and Census Director. She is also an attorney and former small business owner.
Speaker Menin has proudly represented District 5, which includes parts of the Upper East Side and all of Roosevelt Island, in the Council since January 2022. Her policy accomplishments during her first two terms included passing legislation to advance universal child care, lower and bring transparency to excessive health care prices, and ease burdens on small businesses.
Meet our 2026 Honoree
John is the Founder & CEO of Latimer, a large language AI model that is trained with diverse histories and inclusive voices, making technology truly accessible and beneficial for everyone.
John served as co-founder and CEO of the venture-backed, video-based travel platform VoyageTV which raised $10 million in an A-Round led by Syncom Venture Partners. It sold to Next 1 Interactive in 2013.
He sits on the Board of Directors of Outward Bound USA and additionally serves as a Mentor at TechStars Boston.
He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the StateUniversity of New York and a B.A. in Computer Science from Columbia University. He is married to Kobi Wu-Pasmore and they live in New York City with one child.
