What Are Open Enrollment Courses?

Open Enrollment courses are multi-day Outward Bound wilderness expeditions available to individuals who enroll independently. These courses are fee-based and open to participants from across the country, bringing together a diverse group of peers for a shared learning experience in the outdoors.

Participants learn technical outdoor skills such as navigation, camp craft, backpacking, canoeing, or rock climbing, while also developing confidence, teamwork, and leadership through real-world challenge.

The Open Enrollment Experience

Open Enrollment courses are designed to foster deep connection to nature and meaningful personal growth. Supported by experienced instructors and a committed crew, participants build strong bonds, test their independence, and discover strengths they can carry forward into school, work, and life.

These courses offer the classic Outward Bound expedition experience for individuals seeking challenge, growth, and community in a wilderness setting.
