Scholarship Courses
Each year, Philadelphia Outward Bound School offers tuition-free scholarship courses for middle and high school students as well as educators.
GOAL is a fully funded, 10-day Outward Bound wilderness expedition for students entering grades 7–9. Designed to introduce young people to leadership through shared challenge, the course brings students into the remote backcountry where they travel as a crew, live with what they carry, and build confidence, connection, and lasting memories.
GOAL is open to students from the Delaware Valley, with preference given to Philadelphia residents, and includes a modest application fee.
PYLC is a fully funded, 14-day Outward Bound scholarship expedition for high school students, combining backpacking, rock climbing, and canoeing to build leadership, resilience, and confidence through wilderness experience.

The New Jersey Youth Leadership Corps (NJYLC) is a merit-based Outward Bound scholarship expedition for high school students from New Jersey, designed to challenge participants and strengthen leadership through shared wilderness experience.
NJYLC is open to students entering grades 10–12 who are New Jersey residents and includes a modest application fee.
The Educators Course is a tuition-free Outward Bound scholarship program for educators, school administrators, and youth-serving professionals, offering a multi-day wilderness experience that strengthens leadership, experiential learning, and facilitation skills.
The program extends beyond the summer canoe expedition with follow-up gatherings and coaching that support reflection, connection, and continued application of learning.
The West Chester Girls Canoe Course is a fully funded Outward Bound scholarship program for high school students, offering a 7-day wilderness experience focused on leadership development, confidence, and teamwork through canoe travel.
The course is open to students from the West Chester area and includes a modest application fee.
