Supporting Veterans Beyond Service
Transitioning from military service can bring new challenges, including changes in identity, community, and daily structure. Outward Bound programs create space for veterans to reconnect with themselves and others through shared challenge and time outdoors.
We offer both one-day programs and multi-day wilderness expeditions for veterans and active duty service members. Thanks to the generous support of donors, all veteran programs are tuition-free.
How Outward Bound Supports Veterans
Outward Bound’s veteran-specific programs use challenge, teamwork, and time in nature to support long-term well-being, confidence, and connection.
Participants have opportunities to:
- Build connection and camaraderie with fellow veterans who understand the shared experience of service, reducing isolation and strengthening social bonds.
- Develop coping skills through challenge and reflection, encouraging adaptability and self-awareness and supporting improved mental well-being.
- Translate military strengths into civilian life, including teamwork, leadership, and commitment to service, while becoming more open to support and next steps.

Canoeing on the Reservoir
