To reserve a position on course, a deposit (listed below) is required at this time. This deposit is applied to the total cost of your course and includes a $150 non-refundable application fee. The remaining deposit is refundable if you cancel your application more than 90 days before the course start date or are waitlisted and a position does not become available. Outward Bound will refund your full deposit, including the $150 non-refundable application fee ONLY if you cancel your application due to lack of scholarship* or if Outward Bound cancels your course. Outward Bound will retain your full deposit, including the $150 non-refundable application processing fee if you cancel your application less than 90 days prior to the course start date.**

Before making any financial commitment, please review the information below carefully. Participation on an Outward Bound course requires planning, preparation, and commitment from students and families. These policies explain how Summit Fund awards, application fees, and self‑paid tuition are handled in the event of cancellation or changes to enrollment.

Summit Fund recipients are required to submit a $150 non‑refundable application fee at the time of enrollment.

• This fee replaces the standard $500 tuition deposit.
• The $150 application fee helps cover the enrollment and medical screening process and confirms the student’s intent to participate.
• The application fee is non‑refundable under all circumstances, except if the Regional Outward Bound School cancels the course.

Your remaining tuition balance is due 90 days before the course start date. If you are applying for a course that starts within 90 days, please be prepared to pay the remaining tuition balance after receiving your registration email from your Course Advisor.

With the generous gifts of donors, courses are offered at low cost to veterans and active duty service members. This includes tuition and travel required to and from the course start location. Due to the expense of planning, staffing and provisioning crews, Outward Bound cannot recover expenses in the event of short-notice cancellations, therefore we require a $50 commitment fee at the time of enrollment. There are no additional penalties or cancellation fees in the event an applicant receives orders to deploy and cannot attend course. Applicants will be charged a $250 cancellation fee if they cancel less than 30 days before the course start date for reasons other than deployment. If Outward Bound has already purchased travel for the course, applicants will also be charged the total cost of travel.

Within two to three business days of submitting this application, you will receive a registration email from your Outward Bound course advisor. This email will include additional paperwork you'll be required to complete, to hold your spot on the course. Your ability to participate on course is contingent upon receiving accurate and complete paperwork within the timelines provided.
