Through A Donor Advised Fund
You can easily make a grant recommendation through a donor-advised fund. We’ll do the rest! Our EIN is 04-2375956.
Through Your IRA
If you are age 70½ or older, you can make a powerful, tax-smart contribution to Outward Bound USA directly from your IRA. Your gift can help young people build resilience, confidence, and leadership through outdoor adventure—without increasing your taxable income.
How It Works
You must be 70½ or older at the time of the gift.
You instruct your IRA plan administrator to make a direct transfer to Outward Bound USA or other qualified charities.
For 2025, the IRS allows:
Up to $108,000 in total annual direct gifts to charity
A one-time maximum of $54,000 for a gift that funds a life-income vehicle (such as a charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust)
Why It Matters
Your gift is transferred directly from your IRA to Outward Bound USA—you do not receive the funds, so they are not included in your gross income.*
If you are subject to Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), your gift may count toward your RMD for the year.
You will be supporting life-changing outdoor education programs that equip students to lead with courage, compassion, and character.
*Note: While Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) are not tax-deductible, the transferred amount is excluded from taxable income—often resulting in meaningful tax savings.

Give a Tribute Donation
Contributions In Memory of Or In Honor Of
Outward Bound donors may choose to contribute to honor a student, a staff member or another friend of Outward Bound, or in memory of an alum, a former staff or Board member, or another friend of Outward Bound. Tribute contributions can be made directly through the DONATE page form.
Employer Donation Match
Corporate matching contributions are a type of philanthropy where companies financially match donations that their employees make to nonprofit organizations.
When you donate, you can request a matching gift from your employer, who then makes a direct donation to the same nonprofit. Companies usually match donations at a 1:1 ratio, but some will match at a 2:1, 3:1, or even a 4:1 ratio.
